As we anticipated, the weather was not the best, but at least it did not RAIN . . . UGH! Every year we reunite under the RBN banners to ramp ourselves up for Opening Kick for the 2009 season. After a disappointing First Kick debut in Seattle, the outcome was better, but still disappointing. Regardless, the RBN Nationals are back in action for 2009!
Well, Chief Toro and a handful of ESCers made the journey cross-country to relatively DRY Seattle, who not only hosted First Kick, but the inauguration of their new "home team," Seattle Sounders FC. It was quite the celebration and spectacle, especially wathching our Red Bulls succumb to the home field advantage. Seattle is currently undefeated in the West, along with Chivas USA. Might be something special in the air . . . other than that fishy smell . . .
Seeing is definitely believing! While it is still an active construction site, anyone with half an imagination will quickly realize (once entering the future RBNY sanctuary) that Red Bull Arena will be the gem--the benchmark--by which all other future MLS stadiums will be measured. Not to slight the current MLS SSSs, especially Crew Stadium as the first, but Red Bull LLC is not holding anything back for this project!
Well, CPB DID knock our Red Bulls out of the Open Cup last year. However, on this night, the Red Bulls exacted their revenge. JCO was still experimenting with lineups and player positions in anticipating of MLS First Kick in Seattle. A small contingent of ESCers made the trip and RBN's "Chief Toro" joined them in Annapolis MD at the storied Navy-Marine Corp Stadium. HOOO-ahhh!
This is a menagerie of images captured in the waning weeks of the regular 2008 season. It has been so long ago, I do not know really what to put here in the caption. So, just peruse the images and hopefully they spark great memories and anticipation of more excitement to come!
OK, so you do not know what or who "Bläkup" is? If you were at our last Barstormin' Brunch, you would know! While DCU might be gloating over its narrow victory last weekend, the New York Red Bulls and RagingBullNation are regrouping for an onslaught like no other this Sunday! Blackout, you say? We have got Bläkup!!!!!
